Increased power for Caterpillar PM-465 cold planer

Designed and manufactured by Caterpillar Paving Products, the PM-465 update cold planer is a four-track, half-lane, front-discharge machine that features four major enhancements over its predecessor. These enhancements include a 373-kW (500-hp) engine, milling width of 2006 mm (79 in.), track pads with up to four times longer life, and improved grade and slope. The update has an operating mass of 25855 kg (57,000 lb) and is equipped with a 2006-mm (79-in.) wide rotor, with a maximum cutting depth of 305 mm (12 in.). The new mill is sized for urban applications, but is capable of high-production work as well. The rear tracks are inset so the machine has a tight right turning radius of 3.6 m (11.8 ft). A Caterpillar 3406C jacket water after-cooled diesel engine supplies the increase in power. The operator's station is open, uncluttered, and accessible from the left side. There are dual controls for the steering, propulsion, conveyor, brake, and emergency shutdown systems. Other controls on the console include steering mode, moldboard elevation, leg cylinder elevation, rotor actuation, water spray, grade/slope, lights, and the display for the electronic control module.
