Caterpillar PS-360B pneumatic compactor allows for various ballasting options

Caterpillar's PS-360B pneumatic compactor is a seven-wheel, high-production machine that works well on soil, asphalt, chip and seal, reclamation, or soil stabilization projects. With a mass of 25,000 kg (55,000 lb), the large and varied ballast capabilities of this compactor allow it to be used in many applications. It can be ballasted with water, sand, steel, or a combination of each. The various ballasting methods allow the machine to be tailored to specific wheel load specifications or contractor preferences. The wide tires and large tire overlap allow it to work on asphalt as a breakdown, intermediate, and finish roller. Its broad rolling width of 2275 mm (90 in.) covers a standard highway lane easily in two passes. The machine features a 5-m³ (177-ft³) ballast capacity. The hydraulic system incorporates a pressure override valve in the propulsion circuit. The completely hydrostatic propulsion features the High-drive system, provides smooth starts and stops, and provides service braking. A 75-mm (3-in.) wide seat belt and the roll-over protective structure are standard equipment, and meet SAE-recommended standard J1040. The compactor complies with applicable OSHA regulations and is certified to quality standard ISO 9001.
