Caterpillar skid steer loaders powered by 4-cylinder diesel engines
-
Caterpillar's line of skid steer loaders with associated work tools are now offered in six models, which join the mini hydraulic excavators and compact wheel loaders that complete the company's compact product line. The 216 and 226, with rated operating capacities of 612 and 680 kg (1350 and 1500 lb), will be available in second quarter 1999, along with a wide array of work tools. Larger 236 and 246 models with higher rated capacities of 794 and 907 kg (1750 and 2000 lb), as well as the 228 and 248 High Flow models, will be available later in the year. Extensive research on skid steer loader applications and results from customer surveys led the company to focus on four specific areas of differentiation during the product development phase: ease of operation, performance and versatility, serviceability, and customer support. Innovation of this new line has been demonstrated with more than 25 patent filings for the product design. The loader's operator station has been designed with ergonomic features, such as low-effort controls, a comfortable armrest, retractable seatbelt, and a suspension seat option. The loaders are powered by Caterpillar 3034 direct-injection, 4-cylinder diesel engines.
