Caterpillar 302.5 mini excavator powered by 3-cylinder diesel engine

Caterpillar's 302.5 Mini Hydraulic Excavator, the second machine in its new line, has a mass of 2728 kg (6015 lb) when equipped with a cab, and it produces 17.1 kW (22.9 hp). It is designed to handle many tasks, and a variety of work tools are available to tailor the machine for efficient performance. Common applications include digging footings; trenching for utility connection and drainage; back filling; leveling; breaking hard surfaces with a hammer; demolishing steel structures, reinforced concrete structures, cables, and scraps; drilling holes with an auger; digging drainage ditches; and maintaining slopes and embankments. A Caterpillar 3013 naturally aspirated, water-cooled, 4-stroke, 3-cylinder diesel engine generates 18.0 kW (24.1 hp). The 3-pump hydraulic system is a pilot control design, balancing power and speed to give smooth control and optimum digging performance. An auxiliary valve is standard and allows easy field installation of hydraulic work tools. Both standard and long sticks are available to match the machine to the application. Maximum digging depth with the standard stick is 2560 mm (101 in.), and the optional long stick provides 2950-mm (116-in.) digging depth.
