Articulated trucks from Caterpillar feature cross-axle differential lock system
-
Caterpillar's D250E and D300E II articulated trucks offer new levels of operating efficiency, comfort, and convenience. These two models operate in the 22.7-27.2-t (25-30-ton) articulated truck class in landfill, general construction, sand and gravel, and land restoration applications. Major features include automotive-style cab with upgraded instruments and controls, enhanced load-sensing steering, innovative cross-axle differential lock system, a new rear chassis, redesigned rear suspension and dump body, faster dump cycle on the D300E II, and increased engine power on the D250E II. The cab features a new, wrap-around interior with upgraded instruments and controls, including in-dash fuel gauge and a gear indicator. A tilt/telescoping steering wheel is standard, as is a Caterpillar air-suspension contour seat. The series II front suspension system improves ride and reduces hydraulic pressure by 30%. Two larger-bore, longer-stroke cylinders linked to a nitrogen-over-oil accumulator absorb hauling and loading shocks. A direct-injection, turbocharged, and aftercooled 3306 DITA engine powers both models. The D250E is rated at 201 kW (270 hp) at 2200 rpm, and the D300E 213 kW (285 hp) at 2200 rpm.
