Hitachi CX crawler-mounted cranes feature high-speed swing motors

Hitachi Construction Machinery (America) Corp. has introduced five models of its latest CX hydraulic, crawler-mounted, lattice-boom crane, ranging in load capacity from 70-200 t (77-220 ton). In addition to the crawler crane models, dragline, pile driving, auger, and tower crane configurations will be offered. Offering greater customer value, long equipment life, and low cost of operation over the life of the crane, the CX Series provides the latest in lifting control and precision. The independent main and auxiliary hoist drums are some of the most precise hoist mechanisms available. Drum rotation sensors on each drum allow the operator to feel when the drum begins to move, and hydraulic servo system friction band brakes on the drums allow free-fall lowering. The ergonomic adjustable seat and seat lever were designed to allow the operator to get comfortable quickly. The operating controls are placed so that the operator can concentrate on the job, rather than control location. In addition, high-speed swing motors are controllable from zero to maximum with a single lever. A slow boom hoisting/lowering stop mechanism kicks in whenever the boom overhoist or overload protection devices activate.
