DD-130 vibratory compactor from Ingersoll-Rand has redesigned drum-wetting system

Ingersoll-Rand's Road Machinery Div. has upgraded its DD-130 double-drum vibratory compactor with a completely redesigned drum wetting system. The high-performance, 11.8-t (13-ton) asphalt compactor is well suited for use in highway, airport, and other large pavement compacting applications. The compactor features a drum-wetting system that boasts two 568-L (150-gal) capacity, linear, low-density polyethylene water tanks that are protected by steel tank supports. It provides two complete water spray systems for each drum, which is protected by triple water filtration. The compactor also features 2134-mm (84-in.) drums that are 1397 mm (55 in.) in diameter, improving overall productivity and efficiency. It has an operating mass of more than 11.7 t (28,400 lb) and measures 6 m 27.9 cm (19 ft) in length. The unit is powered by a Cummins 6BT 5.9 engine that delivers 129.8-kW (174-hp) @ 2200 rpm. Propulsion is through low-speed, high-torque direct-drum drive motors on the front and rear drums. The low-profile DD-130 is designed with an ergonomically designed vibration isolated operator station with a five-position locking, 180ø console rotation adjustment. It also features a size and weight adjustable operator seat, a skid-resistant deck, and robust safety rails.
