Ingersoll-Rand ECM-580 crawler drill designed for higher rock drilling capacity

Ingersoll-Rand Co.'s Rock Drill Division ECM-580 hydraulic crawler drill features the company's Montabert hydraulic drifter, which provides efficient delivery of impact energy to the drill bit, resulting in greater productivity and reduced drilling cost. It is designed primarily for construction and quarry-drilling contractors requiring 63.5-101.6-mm (2.5-4-in.) blast holes. The unit features a unique Intelsense II hydraulic system for full, smooth, progressive, antijam drilling. All drilling functions are monitored and adjusted hydraulically for optimal hole straightness and maximum accessory life and performance. Control adjustments are automatic, progressive, and stepless; the operate without the use of microprocessors or other complicated electronic components, while the drill's blow air sensing circuit prevents bit plugging. A key feature of the drill is a powerful 6930 L/min (245-cfm) @ 900-kPa (130-psi) air compressor for superior hole-cleaning capabilities, which minimizes regrind and maximizes drill bit life. Its in-line direct-drive powertrain requires no power divider gearbox, clutches, or hydraulic motors for powering the hydraulic pumps or the compressor. The compressor airend and pumps are coupled directly to the engine. Also, a simple, low-pressure hydraulic system eliminates troubleshooting time and increases machine uptime.
