214e Series 4 backhoe loader from JCB has naturally aspirated engine

JCB Inc.'s 214e Series 4 is an entry-level, 4.3-m (14-ft) class machine, with special application to the rental industry, builders, landscapers, and cemeteries. The company has also introduced purpose-built backhoe tool carrier models with multi-attachment capabilities for maximum productivity. Having a naturally aspirated, 53.7-kW (72-hp) Perkins engine, the machine has been developed with better backhoe geometry for more lift capacity, and a shorter mainframe for a tight turning circle of 7.9 m (26 ft 5 in.) with the four-wheel-drive unit. The unit also has an improved power-to-weight ratio, a simplified loader arm and leveling system for enhanced visibility, and the choice of canopy or enclosed cab. A turbo (altitude-compensated) 56.7-kW (76-hp) engine is available. The JCB 214S, 215S, and 217S backhoe tool carriers feature four-wheel drive, four-wheel steer, and four equal-sized tires. They use a new tool-carrier coupler, which has been designed for maximum productivity. The coupler features two-position loader linkage to maximize bucket or pallet fork performance (with true parallel lift). Larger-diameter loader arm pipework and a detent for the third valve spool provide an improved system for powering continuous-flow attachments, such as sweepers.
