Proportional pressure joystick controls featured in Komatsu D61EX/PX crawler dozer

The D61EX/PX, one of three recent additions to Komatsu America Intl.'s mid-sized dozer line, includes several new design elements for greater productivity and maneuverability, as well as enhanced precision and efficiency in the (97.0-119-kW (130-160-hp) class. Both standard and low-ground-pressure versions will be available. With features such as increased engine power, better weight distribution and flotation, enhanced operator-comfort features, and a new steering system, this line is well suited for site preparation, construction, home building, forestry, and utility applications. To enhance operator comfort, the dozer's steering control system features proportional pressure joystick controls, which provide precise and responsive hydraulic control by applying engine power to the tracks and blade in direct proportion to joystick movement. This model will be available with a 3.4 m³ (4.5 yd³) power-angle tilt blade. Additional blades available include semi-U or straight type. The complete line of mid-sized dozers is scheduled for production in late 1999.
