New LR 1250 lift crane from Liebherr features self-disassembly

Liebherr Crawler Crane Co. has added the LR 1250 to its series of lift cranes, which now offer capacities to 249,476 kg (550,000 lb). Due to the high stability of the basic machine and the generous dimensions of the tubular boom, the crane has greater load charts in all configurations, either with the main boom or with luffing jib. The crane is equipped with two main winches that offer high-line speeds, and, consequently, quick hoisting and high performance in material handling jobs is assured, even with many parts in line. For economical reasons, it is important for large cranes to be transported quickly; therefore, Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH's engineers have developed the Self-Erection System for the crane. Without the use of an auxiliary crane, it can disassemble itself into smaller units and load them for transportation. The heaviest unit, consisting of the superstructure and the center part of the undercarriage, weighs about 36.3 t (40 ton) and can be transported easily on a low-loader. The boom extensions can be transported in standard containers.
