Data-acquisition system plugs into vehicle network

eDAQ, a flexible data-acquisition system from SoMat Corp., plugs directly into the vehicle network, while it allows for the collection of additional analog signals. This enables users to quickly draw upon data being stored by the vehicle. The system's base configuration includes a high level board that can collect 16 channels of analog data, seven different vehicle bus interfaces, 10 general purpose digital inputs/outputs, eight pulse counters, an Ethernet connection, and a PCMCIA slot. Two additional eDAQ layers can be added to the basic configuration. eDAQ can perform simultaneous signal conditioning and can sample at 2500 samples/second/channel.

Versatile vibration damping product

Soundamp, a family of noise attenuating metal laminate products manufactured by Soundcoat Co., is based upon the constrained layered vibration damping principle. A versatile acoustic material, this product can be used to replace standard homogenous metal panels or formed parts that require traditional sound insulation treatments. It consists of two outer sheet metal skins with a thin visco-elastic polymer inner layer. The product may be supplied in symmetrical and asymmetrical sheets or as fabricated finished parts, and painted to match customer requirements.

Laminated glass increases occupant safety

Southwall Technologies XIR laminated glass has an invisible coating tailored to reflect infrared heat while transmitting desirable daylight. A clear, colorless glass, the product contains a thin, spectrally selective film sandwiched between two layers of PVB and glass. It allows more extensive use of glass in vehicles without the added heat gain, and reflects 99.5% of damaging ultraviolet radiation that fades interiors and increases eyestrain. Laminated construction reduces noise and increases occupant safety, security, and comfort.
