Permanent lubrication enhances drivelines

Rockford Powertrain, Inc.'s new Mechanics Series EC and ER drivelines are slated for production in the fourth quarter of 1999. Both series employ nylon-coated splines, whose resulting material dissimilarities improve wear resistance and reduce axial friction forces by approximately 50%. A patented seal in the permanently lubricated slip mechanism is fully encapsulated and protected from the environment. This, combined with the coated splines, enhances the service life of other powertrain components. Additionally, permanently lubricated universal joints—with the permanently lubricated slip mechanism—contribute to making this a maintenance-free driveline package. The Series EC is available in a quick-disconnect, C-style assembly; the ER is offered in a round-bearing universal joint format. Both are interchangeable with over 90% of existing off-highway vehicular installations.
