Fatigue analysis

The Steyr-Daimler-Puch group of the Magna Co. has developed FEMFAT, a software designed to provide engineers with reliable information on the fatigue life of structures. Therefore, weak points can be identified and removed and the structural weight optimized. FEMFAT works in combination with common finite element programs such as ANSYS, I-DEAS, MEDINA, NASTRAN, PATRAN, and PRO/MECHANICA. To ensure the full and convenient integration into the CAE process, commonly used interfaces to multi-body and measurement systems are also integrated.

Project management

SAS and PlanTech Inc. are co-developing technology to improve management of a multiple-project environment. Called Project Executive, the system will help upper management obtain regular updates on all ongoing projects within the organization. They can determine the health of the entire multiple-project system by viewing dashboard indicators that allow them to make better-informed decisions regarding project go/no-go/kill mandates, project selection, and project prioritization.

Printer management

Marconi Data Systems' Excel WebLink is a printer management tool that provides for remote status monitoring of one or more of the firm's Excel series inkjet printers. The device allows a printer to be connected to a LAN/WAN, intranet, or even the Internet and act as a Web server. This gives any standard Web browser the ability to connect to the printer over a typical Ethernet connection.

Coating testing

Win-HCU control software developed by Fischer for the Fischerscope H100 ultra-low-load dynamic micro indentation system allows fast automated testing of micro-hardness and other physical properties, free of subjective operator influences. Operating on Windows 95/98 or NT, Win-HCU software on the controller enables menu-driven programming of the measurement coordinates using the point-and-shoot function. The software converts the Universal Hardness value into a Vickers Hardness value and allows direct measurement of the hardness indentation according to the classic Vickers method.

Fourth generation TTPtools for by-wire systems

TTTech has announced the release of its integrated Time-Triggered software development environment, TTPtools. The product enables the professional implementation of the Time-Triggered architecture based on Time-Triggered Protocol, the automotive and aerospace by-wire communication standard. TTP communication architecture has been recognized as the emerging standard platform for safe and fault-tolerant realtime systems. This system approach reduces design and test complexity, maintenance, time to market, and cost while achieving higher levels of safety and functionality for by-wire applications.
