FARO Technologies Inc.'s CAM2 Measure 3.7 is a quicker, easier-to-use, more-powerful version of the CAD-based measurement and analysis program developed for use with articulating portable measurement arms, CMMs, and other 3-D measurement instruments. It can be used for simple go/no-go measurements or CAD-to-part comparison. In addition to the measurement tool, the company also offers CAM2SPC process software, a statistical evaluation and quality control tool for mass-produced products. The software collects measurement data and stores it in a central, scaleable database server for data security and rapid access throughout a manufacturer's facility.

Mixed-technology simulator

Simplorer 5.0 from Ansoft Corp. is a powerful, mixed-technology simulator for electrical/electromechanical systems and power-electronic and drive applications. It includes a new object-oriented simulation kernel and modeling language. The software's architecture allows large-scale simulations such as those used for power-distribution systems as well as electric and hybrid vehicles. It accommodates models created in Ansoft's Maxwell tools, in SPICE, or in programming languages such as C/C++.

Data-acquisition software

DATAQ Instruments, Inc. has enhanced its WinDaq/XL data-acquisition software that enables information to be acquired and viewed from within Microsoft's Excel in real time or played back later. The throughput to Excel is increased to as much as 5000 samples/s, depending on computer processing speed.
