Pneumatic products and accessories catalog

Industrial Specialties Manufacturing, Inc.'s 230-page catalog describes the company's complete selection of fittings, tubing, mufflers, manifolds, valves, filters, and accessories offered in a complete range of sizes. The products are available in a choice of materials that include brass, stainless steel, and numerous plastic formulations. A full line of plastic tubing and a chemical compatibility chart as well as an engineering data section are also included in the catalog.

Contact bearings

Applied Bearing Products' contact bearing uses flexing bearing beams to provide quiet operation by absorbing resonance vibration. The bearing is temperature compensated, maintaining a contact no-bind fit in environmental conditions between -196 and +166°C (-320 and +330°F). Linear motion is made possible by its self-aligning capabilities. Made of an internal lubricated thermopolymer, the bearing provides more durability, and its patented zero clearance design provides greater precision and tracking. Applications include ABS vacuum pump systems, wiper pivots, and truck lid pivots.

Shock-resistant alloy

Carpenter Technology Corp.'s Micro-Melt CD #1 alloy is a shock-resistant, cold work die steel with a combination of toughness and wear resistance for tooling applications such as coining dies, blanking dies, slitter knives, chipper knives, and rotary shears. The alloy's properties make it useful in coining and cold work tooling applications. Made via the Micro-Melt Process, which eliminates the segregation found in conventional cast-wrought alloys, the alloy has a refined microstructure with fine grain size and smaller, more uniformly distributed carbide particles.

High-performance plastic

Solvay Advanced Polymers' IXEF is a high-performance, glass-fiber-reinforced polyarylamide that presents high rigidity, fluidity, and dimensional stability; good surface finish; and low creep. Additionally, the plastic offers good fatigue resistance, high chemical resistance to a wide range of chemicals, and a low coefficient of linear thermal expansion. These properties allow a part to be very thin, extremely rigid, complex, light, and highly resistant to mechanical stress.

HIR-coated bulbs

Harison Toshiba Lighting, Inc. has developed halogen infrared reflective (HIR)-coated bulbs for forward lighting of trucks and heavy equipment. The HIR-2 low beam is a 55-W bulb that produces 1875 lumens, representing an output increase of 87%. The HIR-1 high beam is a 65-W bulb that produces 2500 lumens, a 47% increase in output. The large gains in luminous intensity are the result of the company's process of applying more than 25 IR coatings to the exterior of each bulb. Production of these bulbs has begun in Japan.

Harsh-environment encapsulant

STYCAST 2850 FT encapsulant cured with Catalyst 11 from Emerson & Cuming offers protection from temperature extremes under the hood as well as fluids such as gasoline. This material supports the electronics found in fuel sensors without compromising device integrity or reliability. To protect stress sensitive electronics and coil windings from harsh operating environments, the product is designed to survive thermal cycling from -40 to +150°C (-40 to +302°F). It provides enhanced thermal conductivity with chemical resistance to fluids without degradation of physical properties.
