Rod seal

The Simrit Fluid Power Business Unit of Freudenberg-NOK offers the low-friction rod seal, LF 300, a single acting seal made of the company's proprietary polyurethane. It features an asymmetrical profile and grooved contact area on the inner diameter. It was developed for light- to medium-duty applications where high sealing performance and reliability, low friction, and stick-slip free movement are required. It can be used as a single sealing element or as a secondary seal with a buffer in a sealing system.

Adhesive films

MACtac Technical Products has added three new free films to complement its existing MACfilm product, IF-2010, a high-temperature adhesive that bonds to medium- and high-energy surfaces. IF-2070 free films are effective in bonding foams, felts, fabrics, and other materials found in vehicle cabins. Because of its low-surface-energy bonding characteristics, IF-2090 films are suitable for bonding to polypropylene, polyethylene, and powder-coated surfaces. IF-3070 is for high-temperature applications, with a temperature performance of 400°F (205°C). All three films are available on 74# polycoated white craft release liner that is moisture-stable, providing for enhanced shear properties.

Fluid tank caps

Lebow Products Inc.'s line of rugged metal caps and filler necks for fluid tanks used on road, farm, construction, mining, and other auxiliary equipment range in diameter from 1.74 to 4.31 in (44 to 109 mm). The standard line is made from cold-rolled steel, with stainless steel and brass options. All necks are made from 18-gauge material. Gasket materials are Buna N rubber, cork, coprene, and neoprene. Finishes are zinc plate, chrome plate, and painted. Other options include retaining chains, dip sticks, locking tabs, and venting.

Blind rivets

Huck Fasteners' HuckLok is a blind rivet with a 0.25-in (6-mm) grip range that joins a wide range of assemblies. The HuckLok's footprint, or bulb, spreads the load over a wide area, resulting in a more durable and dependable connection and eliminating most pull-throughs when joining thin or lightweight materials such as plastics, composites, and pliable metals. The high-shear, high-clamping rivet locks assemblies from both sides. The pin of the HuckLok fastener incorporates a lock groove below the pintail neck and a shear ring below the rivet sleeve. The shear ring makes the sleeve form a bulb during the pulling sequence. As the shear ring moves deeper into the sleeve, it extrudes a support ring from the sleeve's inner surface. When the lock groove engages the shoulder of the rivet head—locking the pin within the head—the pintail snaps, the pulling motion ceases, and the sleeve wall back-fills behinds the shear ring as it travels through the sleeve.

Dual-cure sealer

DynaSeal from BASF is a dual-cure (UV and thermal) sealer for coating sheet-molded composite (SMC) materials used in automotive applications. The sealer prevents porosity defects in automotive coating layers by sealing the SMC surface. Thus, the surface is sealed by the UV-induced polymerization before the part experiences any heat. The film prevents outgassing from the part when the subsequent paint layers are cured.

Screw thread inserts

Emhart Fastening Technologies' Heli-Coil Primer-Free Inserts were designed for military, marine, and industrial applications in aluminum and magnesium where galvanic corrosion be-tween dissimilar metals is a concern. The inserts are coated with a unique resin-bonded fluoropolymer coating that creates a barrier between the insert and the parent material to impede corrosion, eliminating the need to apply zinc chromate primer. The coating also provides additional lubricity to the part, easing insert installation in anodized or chemically treated holes. Other than standard drilling and STI tapping, no additional hole preparation or priming is required.
