IR torque sensor

Sensor Developments has customized its standard model 01251 infrared rotating torque sensor to achieve a single flange configuration, while still maintaining high torsional stiffness. The sensor is inductively powered via a rotating transformer, and the torque signal is digitized and sent via infrared light pulses back to a stationary optical receiver. The signals are then filtered and converted back to high-level analog outputs and digital serial output. Various torque ranges, flange, and mounting configurations can be accommodated with the firm's custom engineering capabilities.

Glow plug

PSIglow combines a functional glow plug with an integrated miniature pressure sensor having a 1.5-mm (0.06-in) or 1.7-mm (0.07-in) diameter with the sensing diaphragm directly exposed to the combustion chamber without any connecting passages. PSIglow-A features a nonfunctioning glow plug adapter with a permanently mounted pressure sensor directly exposed to the combustion chamber and is available in all glow plug sizes and dimensions. The miniature sensor is permanently mounted near the sealing area or in the glow plug tip. The devices are free from pressure measurement errors associated with long and narrow channels of alternative systems.

Electronic pressure measurement

Wika's MicroTronic transmitter provides the exceptional features of a larger transmitter in a package 30% smaller. The unit has a mass of only 1.75 oz (54 g) and is less than 50 mm (2 in) long. Features include 0.25% accuracy, shock resistance up to 1000 g, vibration up to 30 g, and outputs of 4-20 mA and 1-5 V dc. Suitable applications include, but are not limited to, variable pump control, injection molding equipment, and proportional valves.

Vibration sensors

The Series 640 vibration sensors from the IMI Sensors Div. of PCB Piezotronics are now available with FM, CSA, or CENELEC hazardous area approvals. The devices feature built-in, loop-powered, 4-20 mA transmitters for direct connection to existing PLC, DCS, alarm, and SCADA systems. With output signals directly proportional to peak velocity or rms acceleration values of applied vibration, the units are suitable to providing an early warning of impending machinery failure. These stainless-steel sensors are designed for permanent installation on bearing housings, gearboxes, and motors.

Rugged GPS receiver

Leica Geosystems' MC500 is a high-precision, dual-frequency GPS receiver in a ruggedized housing. It is based on Leica's system 500 family of survey-grade GPS products, incorporating ClearTrak signal-processing technology to provide enhanced signal reception, satellite tracking, multipath mitigation, and jamming resistance. The MC500 is a 12-channel receiver that uses real-time kinematic techniques to provide 10 independent position solutions per second with latency of 50 ms to an accuracy of 10 mm (0.4 in). It provides outputs in Leica's proprietary data format as well as the CMR and RTCM formats. The units meets the shock and vibration specifications of MIL-STD-810C, making it suitable for the high vibration environments of earthmoving and mining equipment, hydrographic, agriculture, port control, and monitoring applications.
