Hydraulic valve controller

OMNEX Control Systems' D130 is a fully programmable computer-driven four-axis proportional hydraulic valve controller. The D130 is capable of handling twelve separate inputs and eight current controlled outputs. Preliminary adjustments are performed in the field with the equipment running, using the faceplate mounted buttons, a digital voltmeter, and observing the high intensity LEDs. More complex adjustments are made in the field or on the bench using a RS-232 cable and a laptop or palm-held computer.

High-speed torque sensors

Series 4104 from the Force/Torque Div. of PCB Piezotronics are high-speed, rotary transformer torque sensors that are suited for high-speed fuel pump testing for turbine engines, testing of emergency hydraulic pumps, and hydraulic motor testing. These high-accuracy sensors have capacities to 225 N•m (165 lb•ft), a 0.07% static error band, and a rotational speed capability of 32,000 rpm with air-oil-mist bearing lubrication. The units are manufactured from aircraft-quality alloy steel and are capable of supporting cantilevered test articles. They are available with keyed or spline shaft configurations and have ceramic angular contact bearing for long service life. Additional features include temperature compensation, up to 300% overload protection, high signal-to-noise ratio, and NIST-traceable calibration.

Rear terminal fuse block

Bussmann Automotive Products' modular 15710 Series Rear Terminal ATC fuse block, or RTA, offers electrical system flexibility at low cost. Its compact size is suitable for use in various applications in the trans-portation markets. A power bus eliminates the need to hard wire the input for each fuse. A single input power wire connected to the bus's input stud provides the power for all the circuits on the bus. Dual bus options are available. Output connections are made via standard Delphi Packard Pack-Con Series III terminals that are easily installed into the rear of the RTA.

RTDs and thermocouples

TTI, Inc. has added a sensor-manufacturing division for thermocouples and resistance temperature detectors (RTD). TTI's thermocouples are made with a noble-metal junction and are rated up to 1700°C (3100°F). The simplicity of the thermocouples makes them resistant to shock and vibration. The fine-wire thermocouple junction takes up little space and has a low mass, making it suitable for point sensing and fast response. The firm's precision RTDs offer a stability of 0.0025°C (0.0045°F) per year, with most industrial models drifting less than 0.1°C (0.18°F) per year. The platinum RTD is the primary interpolation instrument used by the NIST from -260 to +630°C (-436 to +1117°F). The platinum RTD produces a more linear curve than thermocouples, and the RTD's nonlinearities can be corrected through proper design or resistive bridge networks.

Industrial connectors

Amphenol Industrial Operations' connector plugs mate to common sizes and configurations of MIL-C-5105-style threaded receptacles with a simple push of the connector plug. Ease of operation is provided by the patented SWIFTMATE coupling system, which employs an internal ring of formed, locking fingers that slide easily over the receptacles' threads. Spring pressure secures the solid metal coupling ring over the locking fingers for a reliable, locked operation. SWIFTMATE connectors require no repetitive turning or safety wiring of coupling rings, and potential cross threading is eliminated. The connectors are manufactured of sturdy machined metal with a corrosion-resistant nickel metal finish and with solder-style, silver-plated pin or socket contacts. The connectors are engineered to fit many industrial applications, including motors, welders, machine tools, conveyers, communication systems, or instrumentation.
