Error 404--Not Found

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

CAN bus controller

The ESX-C2C from STW Technic is a freely programmable CAN bus controller for mobile applications. It is specifically targeted for use in data-logging or other applications requiring five or fewer input/outputs. The controller allows for a host of functions using remote communications, including data downloading, system monitoring, override functions, and theft protection. It provides open- or closed-loop sensor-actuator management, including the ability to drive proportional outputs directly. The C2C can read data from engines equipped with ECMs (SAE J1939 protocol), or act as a bridge between two different communications protocols, such as between J1939 and CAN 2.0B, or between J1939 and RS232.

Filtered terminal blocks

Cooper Bussmann's standard F38 Series and custom filtered terminal blocks feature an integrated pin design that improves the insertion-loss performance in most dc and ac applications. Developed for EMI-RFI filtering primarily for the tele-communications, industrial controls, and defense-system industries, the block uses filtering elements around a solid brass pin. Available for straight lead male or female quick-connect terminals, the F38 is molded of UL-rated 94VO thermoplastic with brass, tin-plated terminals. Rated at 30 A, 150 V ac, and 250 V dc, the block can operate in temperatures from -55 to +105°C (-67 to +221°F).

Hazardous-area LVDT

The HLR 750 Series of LVDTs (linear variable differential transformers) from Macro Sensors, a division of Howard A. Schaevitz Technologies, are 3/4-in (19-mm) diameter, hermetically sealed position sensors that are UL-approved for operation in Class 1, Division 2 and Class 1, Zone 2 hazardous locations. Applications for the series include vane pitch measurement, fuel-valve-position feedback, and governor control in natural-gas-powered compressors and power-generating turbines, as well as throttle position sensing on engine-driven compressors. The ac-in/-out LVDTs are constructed of stainless steel and rated for continuous operation to 300°F (150°C). A through-bore design makes the sensor's core accessible from both ends for better mechanical support and core guidance, as well as facilitating bore clearing.

Steer-by-wire

Lord Corp. has developed a steer-by-wire brake/encoder package that uses magnetorheological (MR) fluids. The package produces up to 17 N•m (12.5 lb•ft) of torque and includes a 1024 ppr quadrature optical encoder to provide angular position data for control systems. MR technology is based on patented formulations and damper, mount, brake, and clutch designs, as well as sophisticated computer control algorithms. When exposed to a magnetic field, MR materials change consistency within milliseconds from a fluid to a near-solid state. In a rotary brake, MR fluid produces variable shear forces (resistive torque) in direct proportion to the applied controlled current to the electromagnet in the piston. In the absence of a magnetic field, the rotor turns freely inside the brake.

Pressure measurement

Series 106 and 116 dynamic pressure sensors from the Pressure Division of PCB Piezotronics measure both low-level pressure and high-intensity sound pressure levels, both acoustic and ultrasonic. Two ICP versions feature onboard electronics to provide a conditioned output signal. Other charge-mode units, without electronics, can withstand temperatures up to 750°F (400°C). The units feature solid-state construction, no moving parts, stainless-steel housings, and a high-frequency range. The sensors can be used to monitor pulsations, turbulence, and noise in hydraulic and pneumatic systems, as well as detect pressure fluctuations in exhaust systems, compressors, turbines, pumps, and pipe lines.

Multiplexer system

The HART multiplexer system from Pepperl+Fuchs configures field devices as they communicate with a PC without interrupting the 4-20 mA signal. The system allows a PC to exchange data with as many as 7905 field devices while the control system continues to function. This multitasking includes online monitoring, making the system suitable for compliance with ISO 9000 validation standards that require accurate diagnostics. The HART multiplexer system mounts easily to a standard DIN rail and is compatible with software packages such as PACTware, AMS, and Cornerstone.
