dc-dc converters

Sure Power Industries has expanded its line of dc-dc converters to include new models specifically designed for the construction equipment industry. The units feature one output that is available full time, and another that is remotely enabled and can be used to switch 12-V loads. The 21000 family of converters meet SAE J1455 and SAE J1113 requirements.

Flow measurement

The P321 differential pressure transducers from Kavlico are suitable for robust, high-volume applications such as air, water, engine air intake, exhaust gas, coolant, oil and fuel flows, as well as product mixing and blending applications. The transducers can be specified with pressure ranges of 0-5 psi (0-34 kPa) to 0-50 psi (0-344 kPa), with a 60-psi (414-kPa) operating line pressure. They operate on a 5-V dc power supply, providing a 0.5- to 4.5-V dc output. The rugged housings may be specified with or without a bracket assembly depending on the mounting configuration requirements. The P321s have no moving parts and can be coupled with venturi tubes, flow nozzles, orifice plates, or pitot tubes.

Compact linear actuator

MaxJac is a new line of compact actuators from Thomson Micron that deliver variable speed control for thrust applications, making them suitable for throttle control, fine-lift adjustments, and valve actuation in recreational vehicles and construction equipment. The thrust action is initiated by a permanent magnet, 12-V dc motor whose torque is augmented by high-efficiency gearing. The gear motor produces a continuous torque of 0.14 N•m (0.1 lb•ft) and a peak torque of 0.51 N•m (0.4 lb•ft). The torque is then translated to thrust by a precision-rolled ball screw. Absolute positioning is maintained over the entire stroke by a potentiometer, which is geared directly to the main axis and provides closed-loop position feedback.

Hall IC with magnet

The ATS665 from Allegro Micro-Systems, Inc. is a new Hall-effect integrated circuit (IC) and samarium cobalt magnet configured in a single over-molded package. The differential Hall-element design provides an improved alternative to traditional single- element gear-tooth sensors because it eliminates variation in the back-biased field. The digital processing of the analog signal makes zero-speed possible and enhances performance and reliability of the device. The algorithm of the ATS665 tracks the peaks of the signal and sets the switching thresholds—which are established as a percentage of peaks—maintaining switch points around the zero crossing. The sensor is targeted for industrial machinery, transmissions, power boats, and golf carts.

Vibration analyzer

The OR38 PowerPC-Pack is the latest product in OROS' range of PC-based noise and vibration signal analyzers. The OR38 complements the existing OROS analyzers by offering an all-in-one multimode analyzer, DAT recorder, and data acquisition front end. It is now possible with the product to simultaneously process signals for different analyses (FFT, 1/n octave, order tracking) and record the time-domain signals in parallel. It has 16, 24, or 32 channels, stackable to 64. It features an Ethernet connection of a built-in hard drive for autonomous operation.

Gen-set instruments

"Generator Panels and Instruments" is a product-overview brochure from FWMurphy that features its complete line of instrumentation and controls for generator sets. Mechanical and electric gauges, SWITCHGAGE units, and end devices are featured, as well as the new MurphyLink instrumentation, which were designed to read the J1939 CAN protocol used in many engines. SWITCHGAGE is an engine-control gauge with a built-in switch to initiate an alarm or a shutdown when possible damaging conditions are detected on equipment. Other products featured include a diesel-fuel shutoff valve, magnetic pickup sensors, and controllers.

Terminal block

The EJ Series is a "threaded stud" type power block from Elec-Tron, Inc. suited for a power entrance block or internal junction block. Extensive use of modeling and stress technologies during the design process has resulted in a block that offers a 39% increase in break and crack resistance over conventional stud and nut blocks and is about 20% less expensive. The blocks have a two- or three-pole junction point for connection of factory wiring to field installed cordsets.
