Face-seal fittings

O-ring face-seal fittings from Brennan Industries are designed specifically for hydraulic systems on both industrial and commercial equipment where elastomeric seals are acceptable to overcome leakage and variations in assembly procedures. The forged fittings permit operating pressures as high as 6000 psi (41,400 kPa) and can be easily connected to a range of tubing grades by silver brazing. The fittings are suitable for sub-zero to high-temperature applications, and are resistant to vibration and shock conditions. The product line is available in 23 configurations and in 35 size combinations.

Spin-on filters

The customized process of Zinga's Build-A-Filter spin-on filters eliminates the need for extra plumbing, re-ducing adapters, return line headers, fittings, hoses, and pipes that other pre-fabricated filters require. Up to three inlet ports are standard on Zinga's modular filter, and the inlet ports and outlet port can all be custom-located. The ports are available in 12 standard thread sizes. The filters have a flow range up to 225 gal/min (850 L/min).

Flow divider valves

The FV series from Webster Instruments is a line of pressure-compensated priority and proportional flow divider valves. The variable priority flow dividers have input ranges up to 30 gal/min (115 L/min) at 3650 psi (25,200 kPa) and variable priority ranges from 3 to 30 gal/min (11 to 115 L/min). Variable control is available as manual knob or electronic remote control. Electronic control can be via potentiometer, 4-20 mA, 0-10 V dc, or CAN bus. The fixed proportional valves have input rates up to 25 gal/min (95 L/min) at 3000 psi (21,000 kPa) and factory-set ratio splits of 50/50, 40/60, and 25/75. Fixed priority dividers have input ranges up to 30 gal/min (115 L/min) at 3000 psi (21,000 kPa) with priority flow rates factory-set from 1 to 9 gal/min (4 to 34 L/min).

Liquid-level sensor

Tedeco Products' new Series 3G8500 were designed for fluid level alarms on vehicles. The electro-optic sensors feature a solid-state design, making them suitable for fluid-motion situations with rapidly fluctuating fluid levels caused by wave action, heavy aeration, or splashing. The sensor's rugged construction allows them to withstand climatic, dynamic, and electrical forces, both natural and vehicle-induced. Applications include engine coolant, air-conditioning and refrigeration systems, and others for heavy-equipment, military, and marine vehicles. They operate in temperatures up to 350°F (180°C) with no moving parts, and are available with brass or stainless-steel bodies; metric, pipe, or straight threads; and polysulfone or glass prisms for optimal fluid compatibility.

Load-sensing valves

Nimco Controls has added a sectional valve that senses load to its CV range of hydraulic directional control valves for vehicles that lift and lower loads, such as earthmoving vehicles, forklifts, cranes, and aerial platforms. The CV 2000 LS is suitable for both fixed- and variable-displacement pumps and has a pressure capacity up to 35 MPa (5 ksi) while incorporating a flow compensation of 125 L/min (33 gal/min) at each working port. With flow-dependent pressure limiters on each of its sections, the CV 2000 LS can have its standby pressure reduced to as little as 400 kPa (58 psi). While in the standby position with the inlet section closed, pressure to the signal spool is adjusted to balance the load-sensing signal and spool spring.

Hydraulic cylinder LVDT

The SL200 is a linear displacement transducer developed by Control Products Inc. to mount into hydraulic cylinders. The entire unit is about the size of a large proximity sensor and can be installed in about 90 s. With a linear variable displacement transducer (LVDT) as its core, the SL Series sensor acts as a mechanism to couple the relatively long translation of a hydraulic cylinder to the relatively short translation of the LVDT. The transducer allows functions such as motion profiling, auto leveling, and robotic-type operations such as envelope/teach functions that enable machines to be programmed with reduced operator-skill requirements.
