Error 404--Not Found

From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:

10.4.5 404 Not Found

The server has not found anything matching the Request-URI. No indication is given of whether the condition is temporary or permanent.

If the server does not wish to make this information available to the client, the status code 403 (Forbidden) can be used instead. The 410 (Gone) status code SHOULD be used if the server knows, through some internally configurable mechanism, that an old resource is permanently unavailable and has no forwarding address.

Windows NT for crankshaft gauge

The Windows NT operating system for Adcole Corp.'s Model 1200 crankshaft and camshaft inspection gauge provides operators with familiar user interfaces and operations, enhanced networking, and concurrent program capabilities. Featuring a menu-driven sequence builder utility for developing measurement sequences, the system includes advanced utilities for simplifying cam rise data entry.

Combustion diagnostics

Products and equipment from AVL aid in optical combustion diagnostics to accelerate the development of engines. A micro-optic system allows the observation of combustion in real engines without the need for remachining or modification of engine parts. Priority is given to the diagnostics of early flame behavior, idle-speed stability, emissions evaluation, and knocking combustion. An advanced visualization system enables characterization of air/fuel mixing and combustion at every stage of engine development.

Diesel fuel filter

Designed for use as a final filter with the Fuel Manager diesel fuel filtration system, Stanadyne Automotive Corp.'s 2-µm filter is independently rated at 99.99% efficiency. The company recommends using both a prefilter and a final filter to protect sensitive injection systems from fuel impurities. The prefilter should employ a large media filter of between 30 and 150 µm located near the fuel tank to screen out whole water and larger particulates. The final filter should be located near the fuel-injection pump and employ a 5- or 2-µm media.

Aluminum engines

Power Beat International Ltd. has developed the first fully extruded internal combustion engine. Cost savings are achieved by manufacturing the engine from extruded aluminum alloy instead of using conventional casting methods. The Powerbeat Alu-X uses interlocking modules for each cylinder and to form the crankcase and envelop the crankshaft. The modules were made by sectioning extruded profiles (produced in long strips) at an appropriate length. Any number of these modules can join to make the engine block, replacing one-piece cast blocks and allowing engines of different capacities, cylinder numbers, and stroke lengths to be made from the same parts. Extruded aluminum alloy is also used for the engine head and sump plate. The piston valve bores are extruded alongside the main piston bores in the cylinder head module, which allows for a side valve arrangement. This leads to lower peak surface temperatures in the combustion chamber, reducing NOx emissions and allowing higher compression ratios without preignition. Engine assembly is quick with tie bolts instead of short studs, which hold the stressed components in compression and eliminate the need for load-bearing threaded holes within the block. Tee slots incorporated into the extrusion profile allow simple attachment and adjustment of auxiliary components and mounting of the engine. The company is developing a single-cylinder 0.2-L engine aimed at the small-engine market.
