ZF modular axles
Suitable for dumpers, ZF's Multitrac 3000 and AP9/17 rigid axles are for dynamic axle loads of up to 31 t (34 ton). Design features include slim axle housings, small differentials, and high ratios in the wheel heads, as well as modular design that allows both wet multi-disc brakes and dry disc brakes to be used with identical wheel heads. The comprehensive brake management system contains an electronically activated engine brake. Depending on the application and conditions of use, the axles can be fitted with a self-locking differential or engageable differentials. The axles are mounted centrally using spring pads supports or are pendulum-mounted above the center. Components tried and tested in volume production are combined to ensure that optimum solutions are found for each application. A common oil supply has been provided between the planet heads and axle housing as an additional safety feature. The temperature therefore remains within an optimum range even at maximum levels of load. The accessibility of the components also improves ease of servicing.
