Flagship engine

Perkins' 404D-22TA engine—a 2.2-L four-cylinder turbocharged unit with air-charge cooling—produces 49.2 kW (66 hp) at 2800 rpm from a compact package size of 0.25 m3 (8.8 ft3). The engine provides 208 N•m (153 lb•ft) at 1800 rpm and meets the requirements of North American and European emissions legislation up to 2013. A key benefit of the unit is flexibility during installation. The side-mounted turbocharger makes minimum impact on the package size, which eases fitment. Engine options include high- and low-fan positions, a choice of cooling fans including a special low-noise version, and electronic controlled governing. Testing has shown 6000 h durability.
