Software makes data-acquisition versatile

DATAQ Instruments' ActiveX Controls Library is a package of easy-to-use software routines that provide direct access to the fundamental capabilities of its data-acquisition software. The package enables data-acquisition users to take advantage of the universal ActiveX standard defined by Microsoft. It describes modular, reusable software components that can be used with any programming environment that supports the standard. The software package is compatible with DATAQ's DI-220 Series, DI-400 Series, DI-500 Series, and DI-700 Series data-acquisition software.

Palm-sized flue gas analyzer

The UniGas 3000 from TTI, Inc. is a compact, palm-held flue gas analyzer that permits combustion analysis, boiler tuning, emissions monitoring, and auxiliary test and inspections. Two electro-chemical sensors read the oxygen and carbon monoxide concentrations. These values, combined with the flue gas and combustion air temperatures, are used to calculate efficiency, excess air, and carbon dioxide. Natural gas, LPG, gasoil, and kerosene are the four most common fuels to be measured; six more fuels can be programmed for measurement. Additional external probes allow the operator to make ambient parameter measurements of room temperature and relative humidity.

Engine data-acquisition systems

TFX Engine Technology's two- and four-stroke high-speed data acquisition systems measure combustion, crankcase (two-stroke version), and intake/exhaust dynamic and average pressures, as well as engine speed and temperature. Pressure data is acquired at 1° intervals of engine crankshaft rotation for engine speeds ranging from idle to over 13,000 rpm. Data can be monitored or recorded to a PC hard drive. Applications range from small single-cylinder devices to large off-road industrial equipment.

Portable data acquisition

Validyne Engineering's VDAS 200, 800, and 1500 data acquisition systems record up to 300 channels of vehicle sensor inputs with 1000-V isolation and cold reference junctions on all channels. Cold cranking operation for supply voltages down to 5 V dc and resistance to temperatures from -40 to +85°C (-40 to +185°F) enable the VDAS to perform and deliver accurately in severe test conditions. A flexible, modular design lets users select from four types of modules: voltage/temperature, strain gauge, frequency, and CAN vehicle bus interface.

Portable digital tester

The Flo-check PFM6 digital hydraulic test unit from Flo-tech makes all flow, pressure, and temperature measurements simultaneously, from one point. Accuracy is ±1% full range. The device monitors flows up to 750 L/min (200 gal/min), pressure to 41 MPa (6000 psi), and temperatures up to 150°C (300°F).

Transient generators

A series of transient generators from Amplifier Research (AR) is designed to meet test requirements for today and tomorrow. The 200B Series transient generators (made by EM Test for sale by AR) offer the capability to test to 42-V systems as well as other requirements of the increasingly sophisticated, computer-controlled systems. The 2000 series includes generators for inductive switching pulses, burst, load dump, voltage dips and drops, and power cycling.
