Portable calibrator

The Series 720 portable calibrator from Max Machinery can be plumbed inline like a product-under-test or via quick disconnect fittings anywhere in the customer's flow loop. The customer may recertify their working meter by either comparing the display of the Series 720 with their existing display or use the Series 720's unit-under-test display to develop a linearity curve for their meter. The device will work with any hydrocarbon-based liquid and is not sensitive to changes in liquid viscosity, density, or flow profile. Its precise, positive displacements are fixed for the life of the meter, and the K-factor does not drift over time.

Temperature profiling system

Datapaq's EasyTrack System is designed specifically for smaller custom coaters and finishers. It features a data logger that records 25,000 readings over five channels with a choice of foolproof start/stop button or temperature trigger. The EasyTrack thermal barrier combines black box insulation and heat-sink technology for enhanced thermal protection in a lightweight rugged casing. The system's software enables data to be analyzed over time and allows probe-to-probe comparisons and the identification of both peak and time-at temperatures. Two button operation, battery status lights, and easy-to-use software make the system user friendly.

Handheld calibrator

Dresser Instrument's Heise PTE-1 handheld calibrator is available in ±0.025% full scale accuracy in ranges from 0-34 to 0-68,900 kPa (0-5 to 0-10,000 psi). The PTE-1 also offers the capability to maintain this accuracy in ambient temperatures from -7 to +49°C (20 to 120°F). The device is a good choice to calibrate 0.1% devices where a 4:1 calibration ratio is required. Interchangeable sensor modules are available, and temperature measurements are possible with either RTDs or thermocouples.

Engine-testing platform

A new, adjustable work-station lift platform has been designed by Pentalift Equipment Co. for use during the testing of heavy-duty turbine engines when it is necessary to position personnel and test equipment at various heights and in close proximity to the engines. The lift incorporates two tandem scissor lifts, using left and right hand designs with lateral stabilizers to compensate for offset loads. Safety features of the lift table include an aluminum guardrail with swing gates for easy operator access, a serrated grating deck surface, and a pneumatic/hydraulic control station with a self-contained powerpack.

Diesel-engine data logging

Flight Systems' Model 575 Service Advantage for large diesel engines in the mining and marine industries is designed to provide data logging and real-time presentation features for the Model 550 Engine Saver. The system uses data monitored by the Engine Saver such as engine rpm, engine run time, oil pressure, crankcase pressure, coolant pressure, coolant temperature, and turbo pressure to give a comprehensive record of engine performance. System features include 1-min averages for all inputs while engine is running, 5-s values if any input exceeds alarm set point, and hot-swappable 16-MB FLASH RAM cartridges (expandable to any size available). Data are displayed as they are collected. Set points and alarm levels can be modified, real-time graphs are customizable, and historical data can be viewed. All data gathered by the system can be imported into most Windows applications. Data can be recovered from any Type II PCMCIA slot or parallel port FLASH RAM reader.

Portable radiometer

The IL1400A Radiometer and LED Probe from International Light is designed for measuring LEDs from near UV to near IR to verify their luminous intensity. The system provides instantaneous direct readouts in lumens, candela, watts, or watts/steridian. Simple to use in ambient conditions, the probe has a 6-mm (0.24-in) diameter that fits over the LED while the radiometer stores all necessary calibration factors. Suitable for bench-top or field measurement applications, the portable system operates on four AA alkaline batteries and has both analog and computer output.
