Infrared drying tunnel from Sunkiss

According to Sunkiss, a drying tunnel equipped with a Thermoreactor takes only 10 minutes to set into operation.

The French firm Sunkiss' range of Thermoreactor application-specific drying tunnels are used by the construction, farm equipment, and surface treatment industries.

Generating energy via catalytic combustion of natural gas or propane, the system uses a catalytic radiant panel that diffuses constantly fluctuating electromagnetic radiation across a wide infrared spectrum. The resulting waves are completely absorbed by all organic coatings, such as paints, glues, or inks. Combined with hot air currents generated at the system's surface, this leads to faster evaporation, melting, and polymerization, resulting in a three- to eight-fold reduction in drying times. These time reductions allow the company to make its Thermoreactors more compact than traditional drying tunnels, and hence installed more quickly and in smaller facilities.

According to Sunkiss, energy savings of over 50% are achieved because of the systems' direct transfer of energy to organic coatings. As solvents brought into contact in the tunnel are destroyed by flameless oxidation, the environment benefits and disposal costs are reduced. Dust contamination is also reduced due to the rapid drying time. The company claims the system's radiation efficiency leads to higher product finish quality and better paint film tension because of complete drying.
