Multi-axis modules

The FlexCenter Multi-Axis Modules from Setco can be reprogrammed quickly and easily as production changes and are a cost-effective alternative to dedicated machining lines. The FlexCenter unit also is suitable for producing a family of parts that look similar, but with different sizes and dimensions that change slightly between models. Three modules are offered: FC350, FC450, and FC630; each model represents the basic column size that limits y-axis (vertical) travel.

Step-down control transformer

Toroid Corp.'s standard and custom toroidal step-down transformers are an improved alternative to the conventional stacked lamination type. The efficient core construction makes the units considerably smaller and lighter than conventional devices and generates less heat. With significant losses under no-load conditions and with 90% of the total losses in the copper wire under full load, the temperature rise at half the load drops to 25% of the temperature rise at full load.

Instrument switches

The Series 31 Instrument and Control Switches from Electro-switch have a continuous rating of 15 A at 600 V and feature a detent action design that provides for up to 10 decks (20 poles) and eight positions. Make-before-break (shorting) contacts allow sequential connection to several lines using the same switching deck, a positive positioning detent mechanism, and pre-wired jumpers.

Power supply connectors

The HR31 series of low-profile power supply connectors from Hirose are DeviceNet compliant. Suited for factory automation networks, the connectors are supplied in five positions and in 5.08 mm (0.2 in) pitch. The "through-hole" type headers are available in both straight and right-angle versions, and contacts can be ordered with solder or gold plating; gold plating contacts increases mating/unmating cycles to 1000 times.

Obstacle detection

Transportation Safety Technologies' EagleEye Obstacle Detection System uses ultrasonic sensors to detect objects within 3 m (10 ft) of the side or rear of commercial vehicles, giving the driver an "extra set of eyes" to prevent backing up or changing lanes into objects—avoiding damage, injury, and accident costs. The system allows for up to seven sensor locations around the vehicle, and its heated sensors prevent ice and snow build-up. The dash-mounted Driver Alert Module provides an audible warning and a digital readout of the distance to an object.
