High-impulse hoses
Parker Hannifin Corp.'s 482TC and 482ST hoses for abrasive applications allow engineers to choose the desired level of abrasion resistance. The units require SAE 100R1 Type AT or EN853 Type 1SN hose lines. With its MSHA-accepted Tough Cover, Parker 482TC is suitable for the spots where durability is a must. Parker 482ST, with its Super Tough cover, is for more abrasive environments.
Swirl/quench pistons
JE Pistons now offers forged versions of Hi-Tech's Swirl/Quench pistons for a wide variety of four-stroke applications. The Swirl/Quench design works to increase power at all speeds by combining atomization dimples and compound ramps to break the fuel into smaller droplets and direct the combustion by-products to the exhaust valve.
Telemetry system
The Messenger XL-70 Remote Monitoring Unit from Gems Sensors Inc. is a complete telemetry system including remote monitor, communications engine, and status reporter in one compact enclosure. The unit's wireless telecommunication technologies can be used for various purposes in tank-inventory applications. It frees users to focus on the process rather than on coordinating multiple technology products to communicate. Capabilities include data, voice, and fax modes to simplify access to information via phone, PC, pager, or printer.
Horizontal machining
The Makino A100E horizontal machining center has an over 80% larger footprint than other of the firm's units at 5385 x 10,005 mm (212 x 394 in). It is also 20% heavier, with a mass of 30,000 kg (66,000 lb), which assures stability for high-performance machining requirements. Cutting feed-rates and rapid traverse rates are at 50 m/min (1970 in/min), and acceleration performance is 0.4 g.
Welding engine
Lincoln Electric's Ranger 8 welding system is available with the Honda OHV engine, which features 15-kW (20-hp) twin-cylinder overhead valves at 3600 rpm. The air-cooled engine provides 100 h of operation before the oil must be changed and 200 operating hours prior to an oil filter change; these changes are less frequent compared to side-valve engines. Other features include automatic engine shutdown protection and a quiet muffler.
