Remote lock out

Vermeer Mfg. Co.'s Remote Lockout System is a two-way communication and control tool that allows a worker to lock out the drill anywhere along the bore path or at the exact site. The remote operator requests lock-out mode and the machine, sensing the signal, performs the command. During lock out, the hydraulic system disables thrust, rotation, and the onboard mud system and monitors hydraulic pressure.

Torque sensors

Rotary shaft torque sensors from RS Technologies are designed for low-capacity, high-speed, low-torque measuring applications. The STS2220 sensors are offered in capacities from 1 to 10 N•m (0.7 to 7 lb•ft). They feature a one-piece outer housing, pre-lubricated bearings, and accept either ac or dc excitation voltage.

Rocker switches

Rocker switches from Cherry Corp. are designed for a range of applications for off-highway vehicles and industrial equipment. The SR Series is an economical, miniature 10-A switch in an industry-standard footprint. The LR Series is a multi-pole, lighted or non-lighted, miniature 10-A switch. The CR Series 20-A switch has high visibility in a compact package. Also offered are the TR Series thin-profile 16-A switch and the WR Series double-pole 16-A switch. Initial contact resistance is 0.020 ohms maximum, and insulation resistance is 108 ohms maximum at 500 V dc. Standard temperature range is -20 to +85°C (32 to 185°F).

Noncontact torque sensors

Sensor Developments' new line of rotary torque sensors features noncontact signal transmission using advanced infrared digital-signal-transmission technology. This optical system eliminates the maintenance and wear problems of conventional slip ring technology. The sensors, which replace many existing rotary torque sensors, also feature a high-level analog output to represent the torque load.

Rotary tables

Nikken rotary tables from HPI offer improved workpiece manipulation on any type of machine tool. Dozens of standard models are available from basic manual tables up to five-axis, four-spindle, CNC styles with drive/controller packages. The tables feature patented carbide worm screw and ion-nitrided worm gear construction to ensure the table position accuracy, even in heavy-duty applications. The design creates a high-pressure oil film between the gears under high rotational speed, thus minimizing wear.
