Engine torque measurement

The noncontact torque sensor from Teledyne Test Services measures engine torque for applications including engine and transmission development, torsional analysis, and racing evaluations. The sensor is part of the FPT100 system, which includes a flex plate or flywheel that connects the engine crankshaft to the transmission. The flex plate/flywheel is customized with electronic instruments. The dynamic torque signal allows development engineers to understand the actual engine output before it is damaged by the torque converter. The data can either be used to examine the engine harmonics or filtered to obtain an average value for engine and transmission development purposes.
