GMH Engineering has introduced an inexpensive noncontact Doppler radar speed sensor. Sensor features include a measuring range of 2-480 km (1-300 mi/h), with accuracy better than 0.5% of measured speed and digital pulse output. Power requirements are 9.5Ð15.5 V dc. The speed sensor is approximately 5.9 x 5.9 x 6.6 cm (2.3 x 2.3 x 2.5 in.) and has a mass less than 0.45 kg (1 lb). Applications for the sensor include measuring ground speed of vehicles while performance testing. It could also be used for speed control or speed limiting.
