Proportional spool valves

HAWE Hydraulics' proportional directional spool valves provide proportional control of both the movement and the force capability of hydraulic cylinders and motors. The valves are made of steel, allowing operating pressures to 41,370 kPa (6000 psi). Size 3 ranges from 2.8 to 107.9 L/min (0.75 to 28.5 gal/min) compensated flow per section while Size 5 ranges from 15 to 208 L/min (4 to 55 gal/min). Spools can be interchanged to accommodate different flow requirements. The valves can be supplied as bankable type or manifold mounted and can be operated using various actuations.

Flexible hydraulic circuit

The Innas Hydraulic Transformer (IHT) allows cylinders and motors to be connected to one power rail. It converts hydraulic energy (flow and pressure) at a given pressure to any other product of flow and pressure. Apart from a small energy loss, the conversion is reversible. The IHT can also act as a pressure amplifier and transform energy to a higher pressure than the input level. Energy recuperation is possible when hydraulic accumulators are attached to the rail. Innas has demonstrated the technology in a NOAX forklift. The wheel drive, implement systems, and all auxiliary functions take their power from the common pressure rail. The wheel drive and lift functions are controlled using two hydraulic transformers. A free-piston engine powers the forklift. The engine is an integrated combination of an internal-combustion engine and a hydraulic pump. The piston is not connected to any mechanism but is free to move within the cylinder.

Valve driver

Hed, Inc. will feature its new DVD-2 programmable digital valve driver. The DVD-2 is a pulse-width-modulated (PWM) solenoid driver with modularized electronic printed circuit boards that serve as power amplifiers to drive any brand of proportional valve, motors, pumps, and other devices that respond to PWM signals. The source of the signal could be control levers, potentiometers, or a PLC voltage source. The units process a low-power analog input signal to produce a corresponding high-power PWM output signal. Four basic configurations are available, depending on the required inputs and outputs, and features include a NEMA-4 box and Deutsch connectors.

Hydraulic brakes

MICO, Inc. will display its hydraulic brake valve product line, designed for heavy-duty off-road vehicles equipped with other hydraulic power devices. The design eliminates the need for a separate power brake unit or dedicated hydraulic fluid system. The company will also feature its new Gold Series M-Mount multiple disc hydraulic release brakes (shown), which use a high-performance lining that allows for high torque in a compact size. A large piston area creates low release pressures, making the brake suitable for applications with closed-loop hydraulic systems. The series is capable of full system pressures of up to 20,684 kPa (3000 psi), and nitrile components allow for extended temperature operation ranges from -40 to +121°C (-40 to +250°F). MICO will also display new brake-by-wire and anti-lock brake systems.

Noncontact sensors

MTS Sensors' Temposonics noncontact linear-displacement sensors are now available in a commercial grade package. The low-cost versions perform magnetostrictive sensing in modular sensors for high-volume applications. The line offers no-wear and the convenience of a form that will fit most space-constrained applications. The technology is capable of multiple position measurements and rotary alone or rotary and linear solutions. Sensors are available for marine steering and trim systems, agricultural equipment, and commercial weighing systems, among others.
