Speed valves
Iversen Speed Valves from Sherex Industries Ltd. multiply available pump flow to increase rapid advance speeds of double-acting hydraulic cylinders. The valves use an integrated regenerative-circuit design to accomplish pressure-dependent speed increases of up to twice that of the speed generated by existing pump flow. The Speed Valve SV model uses a circuit that provides rapid advance with limited force. The Automatic Speed Valve SVA model uses a circuit that provides rapid advance with limited force until a predetermined pressure is reached, automatically shifting the valve to allow application of the cylinder's maximum force or normal speed. Advantages of the units include increased machine productivity via reduced cycle times, no external controls, rapid retrofitting, low pressure drop, and compact size and weight.
Power transmission products
Rotation Powertran Industries Ltd. is a manufacturer of mechanical power transmission products for electric, gas, or diesel engine speed-reduction requirements. The firm uses a planetary gear reducer coupled to various inputs, clutch housings to accommodate clutch or flexplates that mount to SAE industrial engines, foot mount or C-face mount for electric motor applications, and PTOs for sideload or in-line applications. The Planetdrive unit has been successful in 11-37 kW (15-50 hp) applications, but the firm is expanding its product line to accommodate up to 149 kW (200 hp).
Truck weighing systems
Survivor ATV Series portable scales from Rice Lake Weighing Systems are built from the ground up for trouble-free performance. The ATV and ATV-SR series are designed for heavy-duty weighing in quarries, asphalt plants, timber operations, road construction, and anywhere a permanent scale installation is not practical. The factory-wired, self-contained modules are placed on compacted gravel or concrete, instrumentation is connected, and the system is calibrated. The high-performance engine of the ATV seriesthe G-Force mounting systemcontrols even the most violent loading forces and eliminates unnecessary movement during weighing operations, which reduces stress and wear on mount assemblies and all moving parts.
Clutches and brakes
PT Tech will display its family of hydraulic clutches (HPTO) for diesel engines, hydraulically actuated totally enclosed wet brakes for heavy equipment, and shock-absorbing clutches for both diesel-engine and electric-motor-driven equipment. The HPTO clutch family covers 60 to 485 kW (80 to 650 hp), with larger units available in the near future. The HPTO clutches are microprocessor controlled and hydraulically actuated, eliminating the need for adjustment. The microprocessor makes the clutch "push-button" operated. Its patent-pending start-up sequence allows it to engage large inertia loads. The microprocessor prevents the operator from abusing the clutch by inhibiting engagement when engine speed is too high, and it prevents the operator from repeatedly engaging the clutch to clear a jam. Event logging is available on certain models.
Powertrain protection
The Power Train Saver from the company by the same name lets operators know when over-torque has occurred, thus saving truck parts from over-torque damage. The torque fuse system shears first, prior to the breakdown of components such as differentials, drive shafts, gears, and axles. The unit welds into the drive shaft and has three slots in which the three torque fuse pins sit. A support bearing holds the unit together after the pins have sheared. The fuse strength is based on a 1355 Nm (1000 lbft) spread, starting at H, 10,170 Nm (7500 lbft); I, 11,525 Nm (8500 lbft); and on to Z, 34,575 Nm (25,500 lbft), which achieves the highest degree of accuracy. The fuses can haul any load, regardless of weight or size.
