Submersible pump

Holland Pump will demonstrate its 102-mm (4-in) hydraulically driven submersible pump system's ability to produce good pumping results with 6 m (20 ft) of vertical lift while being set a remote distance from the power unit. Using a 3785-L (1000-gal) holding tank, the firm will highlight the pump's ability to pass 76-mm (3-in) solids and run dry indefinitely. Applications include deep excavations and ground dewatering, mining, and pumping polluted, hot, or corrosive wastewater.

Splicing material

Georgia Duck will showcase its splicing and bulk-material program. The firm has made significant investments in two onsite laboratories as well as a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the production of splice kits and bulk belting materials. Developed in an ISO 9002-certified laboratory by their own research and development specialists, the materials are available in both bulk and individual kit form. All the materials have passed stringent ISO 9002 testing, are compatible with most conveyor belts regardless of the manufacturer, and are normally available from stock for same day shipping. In addition to its splicing and bulk material products, the company offers technical training to its distributors and end users for all belting-related topics. This training is available on-site or at Georgia Duck's facility in Scottdale, GA.

Safe hydraulics

The Gates Rubber Co.'s revised Hydraulic Maintenance & Safety program contains new information designed to minimize costly repairs, production downtime, and worker injury. The program consists of an on-site seminar and a 72-page manual that helps maintenance managers, repair technicians, and machine operators identify component weaknesses before failure. Both the seminar and the 10-chapter manual have new material covering hydraulic cleanliness, troubleshooting photos, problem-solution charts, and hose-performance characteristics. Other topics explain ways to extend equipment service life and decrease safety hazards. Subjects include hose selection, inspection procedures, proper hose routing, assembly installation, and crimper operation.

Tie-rod hydraulic cylinders

Bailey International Corp. introduces a new addition to its Chief line of tie-rod and welded hydraulic cylinders. ChiefTC3 tie-rod cylinders feature a 20,680 kPa (3000 psi) rating and are available in bore sizes from 51-127 mm (2-5 in) and strokes from 102-1524 mm (4-60 in). Bailey claims that it maintains the world's largest continuous inventory of hydraulic cylinders.

Belt fasteners

Flexco's Bolt Solid Plate conveyor-belt fasteners feature a piloted-bolt design said to trim up to 20 min off typical re-splicing downtime. A 6-mm (0.25-in) threadless shank at the bolt tip lets the installer place nuts loosely onto the upward protruding bolts without pausing to start them by hand-turning, which keeps the nuts in place until a special power socket wrench can tighten them and adds up to a time savings across the entire installation. The narrowed tip also quickens blind insertion of bolts from below the belt. Other products featured by the company include ceramic pulley lagging, belt trainers and cleaners, and demonstrations of specialized tools to make belt splicing safer, faster, and easier.
