In doing so, these organizations must also meet various statutory and regulatory requirements. In an effort to address diverse quality requirements and expectations while also being able to reduce costs throughout the supply chain, AS9100 was developed by international aerospace industry representatives to standardize international aerospace quality management system requirements. Subject to periodic revisions, the latest revision to this standard was released in January 2009.
