SAE International is committed to supporting and respecting the rights and identities of all authors in accordance with our own standards and the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). SAE has therefore introduced a policy supporting any author name change to ensure that our content and policies are inclusive and supportive of inclusion across all types of diversity.
SAE authors may now change their name(s) on any of their publications or works (both in process and retrospectively) without the need for a publication correction notice. We will not require documentation or notify coauthors, and it is the author’s choice whether or not they require a formal correction. Should the author request documentation, SAE will inform coauthors of the change and publish a correction notice with the published work.
For authors and researchers of all genders, this new policy ensures that all can rightfully claim ownership of previous work without fear of reprisal or difficulty of unwieldy processes.
