Design of Aircraft Deicing Facilities

2024-02-21
WIP
ARP4902D
This document provides information and guidance material to assist in assessing the need for and feasibility of developing deicing facilities, the planning (size and location) and design of deicing facilities, and assessing environmental considerations and operational considerations associated with de-icing facilities. The document presents relevant information necessary to define the need for a deicing facility and factors influencing its size, location, and operation. The determination of the need for deicing facilities rests with Airports. Although this document intends to provide information to airport operator and deicing facility planner/designer, all stakeholders, including deicing service providers, should be involved in the development process.

CONVECTIVE WEATHER DISPLAYS AND INDICATORS

2024-02-19
WIP
ARP7528
1.1 This document recommends criteria for electronic convective weather displays and indicators on the flight deck during the cruise, climb and descent phases of the flights. Windshear and microburst detection is addressed in ARP 4102/11D. 1.2 This ARP includes onboard weather radar, as well as other methods of identifying convective weather. It is recognized that radar is the primary means used today, but these criteria can be applied to any future technology that might be developed.

Metric Sockets, Wrenches, Hand Twelve Point, High Strength, Thin Wall

2024-02-14
WIP
AS955A
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) covers high strength thin wall (commercial) metric sockets, universal metric sockets, metric box wrenches and metric torque adaptors which possess the strength, clearances, and internal wrenching design so configured that, when mated with 12 point fasteners conforming to the requirement of ISO 4095, they shall transmit torque to the fastener without bearing on the outer 5% of the fastener's wrenching points. This standard provides additional requirements beyond ASME B107.100 and B107.5M appropriate for aerospace use. Inclusion of dimensional data in this document is not intended to imply that all of the products described herein are stock production sizes. Consumers are requested to consult with manufacturers concerning lists of stock production sizes. The dimensional limits of box and combination wrench lengths have been established to provide configuration control for tool storage applications.

Missile Hydraulic Pumps

2024-02-08
WIP
AIR560D
in this AIR should be considered, as opposed to long-life operation and environmental requirements of a manned aircraft, engine-driven pump. Appendix A is intended to indicate typical environments for several different types of missiles. The actual requirements for a given system should be used and specified in the detailed specification.Missile pumps are categorized by a moderate testing life and a relatively short operational service life. Generally, the pumps are operated at higher speeds, temperatures, and pressures than those used in manned aircraft systems, yet reliability must be extremely high, since there rarely is a redundant system aboard the missile. Due to the short but critical life and performance requirements, development, reliability and acceptance testing should be focussed on eliminating infant mortality failures. Missile pumps must be compatible with very severe environmental conditions during the service life.

Ambulance Patient Compartment Seated Occupant Excursion Zone Evaluation

2024-01-19
CURRENT
J3059_202401
This SAE Information Report describes the testing and reporting procedures that may be used to evaluate and document the excursion of a worker or civilian when transported in a seated and restrained position in the patient compartment of a ground ambulance when exposed to a front, side, or rear impact. Its purpose is to provide seating and occupant restraint manufacturers, ambulance builders, and end-users with testing procedures and documentation methods needed to identify head travel paths in crash loading events. This is a component level test. The seating system is tested in free space to measure maximum head travel paths. The purpose is not to identify stay out zones. Rather, the goal is to provide ambulance manufacturers with the data needed to design safer and functionally sound workstations for Emergency Medical Service workers so that workers are better able to safely perform patient care tasks in a moving ambulance.
