2024-04-09
2024-01-2079
In the process of designing the aerodynamic kit for Formula SAE racing cars, there is a lot of repetitive work and low efficiency in optimizing parameters such as wing angle of attack and chord length. Moreover, the optimization of these parameters in past designs heavily relied on design experience and it's difficult to achieve the optimal solution through theoretical calculations. By establishing a parametric model in CAD software and integrating it with CFD software, we can automatically modify model parameters, run a large number of simulations, and analyze the simulation results using statistical methods. After multiple iterations, we achieve fully automatic parameter optimization and obtain higher negative lift. At the same time, the simulation process is optimized, and simulations are run based on GPUs, resulting in a significant increase in simulation speed compared to the original.

As an off-road racing car, driving conditions for a Baja racing car are particularly complex. Extreme working conditions such as deep pits and rocky roads have put higher demand on structural strength and frame safety. To solve this problem, extreme working conditions are first studied to check the safety of the steel tube frame of Baja racing cars. Secondly, based on Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) to explore the frame's characteristics, analyze the frame's six-order mode, make the corresponding optimization, and solve the resonance problem caused by engine excitation and other factors. Finally, the natural frequency of the frame is measured to verify the effectiveness of the NVH characteristic optimization results, and it is found that the experimental results match the theoretical values. The theoretical analysis results are mainly based on ANSYS software's static and modal analysis.

2023-04-11
2023-01-0808
In the Formula Student Electric China (FSEC), the body structure is generally divided into two types, truss steel tube body and carbon fiber load-bearing body (monocoque). The monocoque is loved by Formula Student teams around the world because it has a higher stiffness and lighter weight than the truss steel tube body. With the widespread application of monocoque, it also brings more problems. Due to the use of the monocoque, the connection between each component and the body was changed from the welding of the original truss steel pipe frame to a bolted connection. However, the bolted connection will provide a large preload force to the monocoque, resulting in the monocoque easily crushed in the local, so it is necessary to pre-bury an enhanced part in the monocoque to ensure the connection strength, that is, the embedded part. At present, aluminum plug-ins after topological hollow processing are being used.

2023-01-0058
Preventing skidding is essential for studying the safety of driving in curves. However, the adhesion of the vehicle during the driving process on the wet and slippery road will be significantly reduced, resulting in lateral slippage due to the low adhesion coefficient of the road surface, the speed exceeding the turning critical, and the turning radius being too small when passing through the corner. Therefore, to reduce the incidence of traffic accidents of passenger cars driving in curves on rainy and snowy days and achieve the purpose of planning safe driving speed, this paper proposes a curve active safety system based on a deep learning algorithm and vehicle dynamics model. First,we a convolutional neural network (CNN) model is constructed to extract and judge the characteristics of snow and ice adhesion on roads.

2022-01-0144
In the process of truck overload and over-limit detection, it is necessary to detect the characteristics of the vehicle's size, type, and wheel number. In addition, in some vehicle vision-based load recognition systems, the vehicle load can be calculated by detecting the vibration frequency of specific parts of the vehicle or the change in the length of the suspension during the vehicle's forward process. Therefore, it is essential to quickly and accurately identify vehicle features through the camera. This paper proposes a vehicle feature recognition method based on image semantic segmentation and Python, which can identify the length, height, number of wheels and vibration frequency at specific parts of the vehicle based on the vehicle driving video captured by the roadside camera.

2022-01-0330
This paper addresses the brake pad particle emission during the braking process of a vehicle in motion. The frictional-constant contact between the disc brake and pads results in an increased temperature and wear of the pads. The emission of brake pad particles into the atmosphere leads to an increase in air pollution and hence becomes hazardous to the human body. In this paper, a wheel brake disc is installed in a ventilation system where the specific air flow is introduced in order to investigate the thermal performance and the emission of particles from the brake pads. A mathematical model using the fundamental parameters of the brake disc and ventilation system is established. The behavior of the heat transfer is studied using computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The particle emission rate from the pads is calculated under the assumption of uniform constant pressure distribution at the contact surface of the brake disc and pad.

2022-01-0220
The sweeper vehicle plays a very key role in maintaining the urban environment. If the sweeper vehicle can accurately and efficiently identify and classify the ground garbage in the working process, it can greatly improve the working efficiency of the sweeper vehicle and reduce the consumption of manpower. Although the deep learning algorithm based on DUC and PSPNet has high accuracy, the recognition speed is low. ENet is a lightweight network, which greatly improves efficiency, but significantly sacrifices accuracy. This paper presents an improved real-time detection lightweight network based on PSPNet, which takes into account the operation speed and accuracy. The network takes PSPNet as the backbone network, and increases the stride in the convolution process, to reduce the size of the feature map and reduce the amount of calculation.

The articulated steering system is widely used in engineering vehicles due to its high mobility and low steering radius. The design parameters have a vital impact on the selection of the steering system assemblies, such as the operation stroke, pressure, and force of the hydraulic cylinders during the steering process, which will affect the system weight. The system energy consumption is also relevant to the geometry parameters. According to the kinetic analysis of the steering system and dynamic analysis of the steering process, the kinetic model of an engineering vehicle steering system is built, and the length and pressure variation of the cylinder is calculated and validated by the field test. The influence of the factors is analyzed based on the established model. To lower the system weight, needed pressure, and force, the multi-objective particle swarm optimization method is initiated to optimize the geometry parameter of the articulated steering system.

In order to study the influence of low-viscosity oil on automobile pollutant emissions reduction, three different 0W20 oil samples were prepared with oil 5W30 as the base oil. Parameters such as the oil viscosity, ash, and element content were tested at different stages, speeds, and accelerations of the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle (WLTC). The results showed the effects of low-viscosity oil on exhaust emissions reduction were mainly concentrated in the low-speed and extra high-speed segment. At the low-speed segment, especially in the starting stage, carbon monoxide (CO), total hydrocarbon (THC), and non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) emissions can be reduced. The use of low ash oil can reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) emissions; the methane (CH4) emissions can be reduced by increasing the Zinc (Zn) content in engine oil moderately.

Effect of Stator Surface Area on Braking Torque and Wall Heat Dissipation of Magnetorheological Fluid Retarder

2020-04-14
2020-01-0937
Magnetorheological fluid (MRF) is used as the transmission medium of the hydraulic retarder. The rheological properties are regulated by changing the magnetic field to achieve accurate control of the retarder's braking torque. Under the action of the external magnetic field, the flow structure and performance of the MRF retarder will be changed in a short time. The apparent viscosity coefficient increases by several orders of magnitude, the fluidity deteriorates and the heat generated by the brake cannot be transferred through the liquid circulation, which will affect the braking torque of the retarder. Changing the surface area of the stator also has an influence on the braking torque of the retarder and the wall heat dissipation. In this study, the relationship between the braking torque of the MRF retarder and the stator surface area of the retarder was analyzed.
