A Study on Prediction of the Brake Hoses Deformation Associated with a Vehicle Motion

2012-04-16
2012-01-0224
A Brake hose is a core part of the braking system that delivers the hydraulic pressure generated in the master cylinder to an actuator, which, in turns, creates braking force. The braking hose can be deformed in many different ways under various driving conditions, and it is essential that the brake hose should not experience any excessive deformation or interference with surrounding parts for durability and reliability. Despite of its importance, the brake hose design method has been very limited. Currently, it is tentatively designed with simple curves, such as a spline curve, then tested and modified with many different prototypes by doing a trial-and-error process due to the difficulty in simulating the behavior of the hose.

Development of New Test Method for Compression Load and Permanent Deformation of Weather Strip

2012-01-0021
The automotive weather strip performs functions of isolating water, dust, noise and vibration from the outside. To achieve good sealing performance, weather strip should be designed to have the high contact force and wide contact area. The compression load of weather strip is important for closing force in initial quality, but the permanent deformation is used to predict influx of wind noise over long periods of time. To check these accurately and easily, a new test method is demanded. So this paper introduces a new test method to predict the compression load and permanent deformation of 3D full vehicle by using ABAQUS. Uniaxial tension and creep tests were conducted to obtain the material data. The lab test for the permanent deformation was accelerated at high temperature during shorter time of 300 hours. Herein Proposed test method can provide accurate prediction under the different loading conditions and section shapes, and will also save time and cost.

Development of DPF/SCR System for Heavy Duty Diesel Engine

2012-04-16
2012-01-0369
The development of PM and NOx reduction system with the combination of DOC included DPF and SCR catalyst in addition to the AOC sub-assembly for NH3 slip protection is described. DPF regeneration strategy and manual regeneration functionality are introduced with using ITH, HCI device on the EUI based EGR, VGT 12.3L diesel engine at the CVS full dilution tunnel test bench. With this system, PM and NOx emission regulation for JPNL was satisfied and DPF regeneration process under steady state condition and transient condition (JE05 mode) were successfully fulfilled. Manual regeneration process was also confirmed and HCI control strategy was validated against the heat loss during transient regeneration mode.

The Flexible EV/HEV and SOC Band Control Corresponding to Driving Mode, Driver's Driving Style and Environmental Circumstances

2012-01-1016
Recently, in accordance with the increased interest of consumer in fuel efficiency due to the phenomenon of high oil price, complaints against actual fuel efficiency in the road in comparison with the certified fuel efficiency have been raised frequently. Especially in case of the hybrid vehicle which is highly popular for the reason of its high fuel efficiency compared with that of existing gasoline car, deviation in the fuel efficiency will be higher compared with that of gasoline car in accordance with the driving mode (downtown/highway), driver's driving style (wild/mild) and external environmental condition (gradient/temperature/altitude). To solve them, this paper developed a method so that the SOC (State Of Charge), EV/HEV mode transition point can be controlled variably in accordance with the driving mode, driver's driving style and external environmental condition by making the most of characteristics of hybrid.
