Study on PDE approach and its application to surface modeling of autobody

2000-06-12
2000-05-0258
At present most of software in styling and design, no matter single or integrate, utilize the spline curve as their basis method of surface creating. And the NURBS technology is applied broadly. However, considering the computing time, system resource, and in order to create high quality surface model quickly, the paper brings out and describes the PDE method and its application to surface modeling. PDE, that is partial differential equation, is a numerical method to solve boundary question. The paper will discuss the approach and its application in the following aspects: (1) Application type of the PDE in engineering; (2) Method to control surface shape; (3) Definition the boundary conditions; (4) Managing the CO four side face; (5) Managing the C1 four side face (6) Tackling the triangle face; (7) Interface of PDE to NURBS. The PDE method has many computing techniques, it is easy to write program, and the surface created using this method is smoother than the conventional method.

Development of a software used in powertrain hydraulic mount system optimum design

2000-06-12
2000-05-0340
The main objective of designing the powertrain mount system is to decrease the vibration transmission from the powertrain to the body. The powertrain mount system has enormous effect on the ride comfort of the automobile. The reasonable design of powertrain mount system could not only decrease greatly vibration and noise produced by engine, but also could lengthen the life of the parts. Therefore, it is very important that design of powertrain mount system. The purpose of this paper is to develop an analytical optimum software to assist the design engineer in arriving at a mounting configuration with the most potential to achieve all the desired performance goods without violating size of the engine compartment. 6 DOF (Degree of Freedom) nonlinear mechanical model of powertrain hydraulic mount system is set up. The hydraulic mount''s position, orientation, stiffness and damping are considered as the optimum variables.

Research and Design of Automobile Backward Automatic Ranging System

2000-03-06
2000-01-1311
In the paper, the research and design work of an automotive safety device is introduced. The device can automatically range, display the distance between the automobile and obstacle and sound alarm at a frequency varying with the distance. Equipped with the device, automobiles can avoid collision caused by drivers not noticing obstacles or not properly estimating the distance between automobile and obstacles when backing up. In the paper, the principle, the software, the hardware and the anti-interference technology of the device are concisely depicted. Test results showed that it is effective in collision avoidance.

A Unified Semi-Empirical Tire Model with HigherAccuracy and Less Parameters

1999-03-01
1999-01-0785
A unified tire model with non-isotropy of friction and arbitrary contact pressure distribution is presented as a foundation to study the key features of a reasonable expression of tire shear force and alignment torque under combined slip conditions. The effects of contact pressure distribution on tire mechanical characteristics are analyzed. A unified semi-empirical tire model with convenience in dynamics simulation is recommended. For determining the model parameters, a series of simple expressions that satisfy the boundary conditions are proposed and a new global fitting method for tire data processing is employed. Based on the improved semi empirical model, the USPA software is developed. This software reduces the modeling time from the tire data to a practical tire model and allows various tire characteristics analyses. Some experimental validations are shown.
