Dana’s Spicer Model 273 front drive steer axle has a turn angle of 42°, a GAWR (gross axle weight rating) of 8000 lb, and popular axle ratios.

The General Motors Lordstown assembly and stamping complex in Ohio is switching to LED in GM’s largest lighting conversion in North America. The Lordstown plant is where the Chevrolet Cruze is built. The project, which will involve replacing an existing high-bay lighting system in the stamping plant, is expected to save $800,000.

ACAL Energy Ltd has created and tested a 100-kW fuel cell capable of a 10,000-hour runtime (the equivalent of 300,000 mi/500,000 km) without signs of degradation, the company claims. A third party automotive durability test was used and simulated a 40-minute car journey, repeated 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In a partnership with Freightliner, Hirschmann Car Communication Inc. created a film antenna as part of an efficiency concept to make trucks more environmentally friendly and easier to maintain. The film antenna is integrated in the tractor body, making damage to the system impossible during operation, according to the electronics supplier; currently 20% of trucks’ conventional rod antennas require replacement within a year.
