This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) presents reference information for use in preparing detailed specifications and other documents. The intent is to have a master reference document containing frequently required tabulations of information, such as the meaning of abbreviations, the spelled out wording of acronyms, the definition of terms, etc. so that such tabulations need not be repeated in recommended practice documents describing how to prepare technical documents. This document is intended to provide references in the field of fluid system components for space applications. Space applications include spacecraft, such as satellites, space stations, launch vehicles and space shuttles, and servicing equipment and components used for ground systems and launching and for servicing in space. Fluid system components include couplings, fittings, hose and tubing assemblies.

CURRENT
MA2241
This document defines the requirements for a threadless, flexible, self-bonding coupling assembly, which, when installed on machined fixed cavity ferrules, provides a flexible connection for joining tubing and components in aircraft fuel, vent, or other systems. This assembled coupling, hereafter referred to as the assembly, is designed for use from -54 to 204 °C and at 862 kPa operating pressure. AS coupling components referenced herein have been qualified to AS1650. Ferrules referenced herein are inch ferrules adapted to metric tubing.

CURRENT
MA2094
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies test methods for fitting assemblies used in aircraft fluid systems in the pressure classes B, D, and E, and in temperature Types I, II, and III of MA 2001. This document applies each time that it is referred to in a procurement specification or other definition document. Fluids and materials used for the tests are listed in Section 2.

Flexure Testing of Hydraulic Tubing Joints and Fittings by Planar Resonant Vibration (Free-Free Beam)

2013-01-02
HISTORICAL
AIR1529A
This Aerospace Information Report (AIR) establishes flexure test procedures to determine and classify the fatigue strengths of reconnectable or permanent hydraulic tube joints. The procedure is intended for conducting flexure tests of fittings and joints for hydraulic tubing materials such as AMS 5561 steel, AMS 4944 titanium and MIL-T-7081 aluminum alloy, mounted as free-free resonant beams. Of particular advantage are the inherent simplicity of test setup, minimum restraint from a test fixture, low power requirements, short test duration, and ease of varying stress level.

Coupling Assembly, Threadless, Flexible, Fixed Cavity, Current Carrying, Self-Bonding, Procurement Specification

HISTORICAL
AS5830
This aerospace specification defines the requirements for a threadless, flexible, conductive, self-bonding coupling assembly which, when installed on fixed cavity ferrules, provides a flexible, current carrying connection for joining tubing and components in aircraft fuel, vent and other systems. The assembled coupling is designed to provide interchangeability of parts and components between qualified manufacturers for the service life of the aircraft system. The assembled coupling is for use from -65 to +200 °F at nominal operating pressures (125 psig for -08 through -64 and 30 psig for -72 through -88). This aerospace specification is a departure from prior qualification practices for assembled couplings. Prior practice sought to validate this type of assembled coupling design by conducting a sequence of tests on sets of coupling assemblies. There were multiple test sequences and each was conducted on a different set of coupling assemblies.
