Equipment for Accelerated Reliability Testing of Cars and their Components

This paper analyses the current approaches in the development of accelerated stress testing, and describes why present test equipment cannot provide the simulation of simultaneous combination of basic field influences on the car and car's components. The authors show a new perspective for the evalution of equipment development for accelerated testing (AT) which would eliminate the above negative aspect and solve the problem of accurate simulation of real life input influences on the natural product for its reliability improvement.

The Strategy to Improve Engineering Concepts of Automotive Reliability, Durability, and Maintainability Integrated with Quality

This paper analyzes the current situation for reliability & quality (RQ), and shows that both are being solved separately, which is an obstacle for improvement of RQ of the product, that worsens the situation in the market, and, therefore, the financial situation of the companies-producers. The strategy of the proposed engineering concepts of reliability integrated with quality can eliminate the above problem. Two basic components of the strategy are shown: development of a complex quality system and useful accelerated reliability testing (UART). For development and use of UART one must first, develop and use new methodology and equipment to increase its usefulness in performance.

Analysis of Different Approaches to Reliability Testing

This paper analyzes the current situation in practical approaches for testing used for evaluation, prediction, development, and improvement of product reliability. It is shown that using practically reliability testing approaches can be: helpful, minimal or useless, and harmful. It describes when each of the above approaches can be used and why. It also describes how one can make reliability testing a useful practical tool. The strategy is shown by the examples of how one can execute this useful practical tool and improve the current situation with reliability testing.

In 2020 ELSEVIER published author’s book “Trends in Development Accelerated Testing for Automotive and Aerospace Engineering”. After being featured on CNN, Forbes, and Inc - BookAuthority, which identifies and rates the best books in the world, based on recommendations by thought leaders and experts, listed in among the best Aerospace Engineering books (#43) and best Automotive Engineering books (#14) of all time (see “100 Best Aerospace Engineering Books of All Times” and “52 Best Automotive Engineering Books of All Times”). This paper will discuss the developing trends in development used accelerated testing as result of the analysis current situation (2019 - 2021) on examples of automotive, aerospace, and other areas. In general, his finding indicate the technical progress in testing is moving much slower than that in design, manufacturing, and service areas of their products.

The Basis of Automotive Engineering Accelerated Testing

This paper reviews the current situation in the development of accelerated testing of automotive engineering, consisting of the four following areas: 1. Field testing of the natural product. 2. Additional technology of separate testing in the laboratory on the basis of physical simulation of separate field conditions using corresponding methods and equipment separately and conducting: safety testing, special programs of testing using digital simulation, special testing with changing certain parameters of environment, corrosion testing, etc. Both of the traditional testing developments above can be found in many magazines, journals, conferences, presentations, and proceedings. 3. Testing on the basis of digital (computer) simulation of product and/or field conditions. This area of testing has been developed in the last dozen years.
