Hydrogen Fueling Stations for Airports, in both gaseous and liquid form

2022-11-30
WIP
AIR8466
Gaseous Hydrogen Fueling and Liquid Hydrogen Fueling at cryogenic temperatures are two different types of fuel stored in different types of vessels with safety mitigations. Similar to CNG & LNG at the same location, the objective of the guideline SAE AIR 8466 is to start with an overarching SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) for both gaseous and liquid hydrogen fueling stations and after publishing, establishing a family of documents covering these categories of fueling as determined by the SAE AE-5CH team. SAE AIR 8466 is to establish a baseline for hydrogen fueling station specifications and process limits for both gaseous and liquid hydrogen fueling of aircraft (eCTOL, eRotor, eVTOL, LTA, etc.) at the airport from small aircraft to widebody.

Standard Test Criteria for Aircraft Refuelers

2022-07-06
CURRENT
ARP5918A
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) establishes the minimum recommended Test Stand Setup and Procedures for inspecting and testing Aircraft Refuelers. The inspection and test procedure shall be used to evaluate the operation and performance of an Aircraft Refueler to assure that it meets the minimum refueling performance criteria and is fit for aircraft fueling and/or defueling operations. These procedures shall be used to test new Aircraft Refuelers and may be used to perform routine tests to confirm that the Aircraft Refuelers comply with the minimum performance criteria as specified herein. This document covers all types of Aircraft Refuelers, stationary (e.g., cabinet type units) or mobile (e.g., hydrant service vehicles, tankers, etc.).

High Flow Liquid Hydrogen Fueling Couplings for Aerospace and Heavy Transport Applications

2024-04-15
WIP
AIR8999
The SAE AE-5CH Taskgroup has determined that high flow liquid hydrogen fueling couplings need to be developed in order to fast fill aircraft at the airport. Though the flow rates from a current liquid hydrogen bayonet connect may reach the lower bound flow rates of regional aircraft, there are some shortcomings to this connector for aerospace. For this reason a new specification for flow rates for regional to narrowbody (and potentially later widebody) are to be developed in this documenet. Harmonization for lower flow rates (such as up to 20kg/minute) are planned to be harmonized with ground vehicle fueling such as with ISO 13984. Within this document, coupling descriptions including Flow rates from 84 to 200 kg/minute will be evaluated (and potentially higher), and requirements and testing and safety targets will be specified.
