2008-06-23
2008-01-1519
“LIN-BOX” is designed as a development tool for simulation, implementation and test of the automotive LIN (Local Interconnect Network) control devices or entire network. The tool can be used to simulate master and/or slaves around LIN system. The configurable signal processing makes it possible to simulate and test the communication behavior. LIN-BOX monitors the bus traffic in the vehicle. The data on LIN bus can not only be shown on various windows but also written into log files. LIN-BOX has been used by several cases for debugging and validation, the result shows that it is a powerful tool for LIN cluster design, simulation and test.

Development of Composite Brake Pedal Stroke Simulator for Electro-Hydraulic Braking System

2014-04-01
2014-01-0117
A brake pedal stroke simulator for Electro-hydraulic Braking System (EHBS) was developed to ensure the comfort braking pedal feel for the brake-by-wire system. An EHBS with an integrated master cylinder was proposed, and a composite brake pedal stroke simulator was designed for the EHBS, which was comprised of two inline springs and a third parallel one. A normally closed solenoid valve was used to connect the master cylinder booster chamber and the stroke simulator. The suitable brake pedal stroke was achieved by three stages of these springs' compression, whereas the solenoid valve was shutdown to enable mechanical control of the service brakes when electrical faults appeared.

Electric Vehicle Behavioral Modeling Methods for Motor Drive System EMI Design Optimization

2015-04-14
2015-01-1204
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is a common problem in power electronics systems. Pulse-width modulation (PWM) control of semiconductor devices in a power converter circuit creates discontinuity in voltage and current with rich harmonics over a broad frequency range, creating both conducted and radiated noise. The increase in switching speed enabled by new power semiconductor devices helps to reduce converter size and reduce switching losses, but further exacerbates the EMI problem. Complying with regulatory EMI emission limits requires the use of EMI filters in almost all power converter designs, and EMI filters are often the dominant elements for system volume, weight, and cost. Electromagnetic interference (EMI) filtering is a critical driver for volume and weight for many applications, particularly in airborne and other mobile platforms.

Modeling of Open Circuit Voltage Hysteresis for LiFePO4 Batteries

2015-04-14
2015-01-1180
This paper aims at accurately modeling the nonlinear hysteretic relationship between open circuit voltage (OCV) and state of charge (SOC) for LiFePO4 batteries. The OCV-SOC hysteresis model is based on the discrete Preisach approach which divides the Preisach triangle into finite squares. To determine the weight of each square, a linear function system is constructed including a series of linear equations formulated at every sample time. This function system can be solved by computer offline. When applying this approach online, the calculated square weight vector is pre-stored in advance. Then through multiple operations with hysteresis state vector of squares updated online at every sampling time, the SOC considering the influence of OCV-SOC hysteresis is predicted.

Optimal Regenerative Braking Control for 4WD Electric Vehicles with Decoupled Electro-Hydraulic Brake System

2015-01-1117
Regenerative braking control for a four-wheel-drive (4WD) electric vehicle (EV) equipped with a decoupled electro-hydraulic brake system was studied. The energy flow of the 4WD electric vehicle was analyzed during braking, and the brake force distribution strategy between the front-rear axles, regenerative braking and hydraulic braking was studied. Considering ECE R13 regulations, motors and battery pack characteristic constraints, the optimal regenerative braking control strategy using Genetic Algorithm (GA) was proposed. A Hardware-in-loop (HIL) test was built to verify the proposed regenerative braking control strategy. The results show that the optimal regenerative braking control strategy for the 4WD electric vehicle was advantageous over the comparison program, and regenerative energy efficiency reaches 78.87% under the Shanghai Urban Driving Cycle (SUDC).

Optimization and Implementation of Three-Phase PMSM Current Harmonic Decomposition Technique

2019-04-02
2019-01-0604
With the development of electric vehicle (EV), permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) has received more and more attention. PMSM torque ripple suppression is one of the core technologies of PMSM control. Current harmonic injection method is a commonly used torque ripple suppression method. In order to accurately control the injecting current harmonics, it is necessary to quickly and efficiently decompose the three-phase PMSM current harmonics first. In this paper, an existing instantaneous harmonic decomposition method based on multiple reference coordinates is adopted. First, the causes of the analysis error of the harmonic decomposition technique are analyzed which are divided into internal factors (e.g. analysis errors generated during the discretization of continuous functions) and external factors (e.g. sampling errors). Analysis errors will directly affect the decomposition result.

Parameter Identification of Battery Pack Considering Cell Inconsistency

2017-01-1214
Lithium-ion batteries have been applied in the new energy vehicles more and more widely. The inconsistency of battery cells imposes a lot of difficulties in parameter and state estimations. This paper proposes a new algorithm which can online identify the parameters of each individual battery cell accurately with limited increase of computational cost. An equivalent circuit battery model is founded and based on the RLS (recursive least squares) algorithm, an optimization algorithm with the construction of weight vectors is proposed which can identify the parameters of lithium battery pack considering inconsistency of single battery cell. Firstly, the average value of the parameters of the battery pack is identified with the traditional RLS algorithm. Then the ratios between the parameters of each battery cell can be deduced from the mathematical model of battery. These ratios are used to determine the weight vector of each parameter of individual battery cells.

2016-01-1154
For distributed drive electric vehicles (DDEVs), the influence of the power ratio between the front and rear motors on the energy efficiency characteristics is investigated. The power-train systems of the DDEVs in this study are divided into two different power-train configurations. The first is with its front axle driven by wheel-side motors and the rear axle driven by in-wheel motors, and the second is with both the front and rear axles driven by in-wheel motors. The energy consumption simulation and analysis platform of the DDEV is built with Matlab/Simulink. The parameters of the key components are determined by the experiments to ensure the validity of the data used in simulation. At the same time, the vehicle’s average energy efficiency coefficient is defined to describe the energy efficiency characteristics of the power-train strictly. Besides, the control strategies for driving and braking of the DDEV based on energy efficiency optimization are presented.
