Sustainable Development Program Committee

Scope: With future expectations of even higher energy demands, the acceptance of a manufacturing ideology that includes an emphasis on environmental sustainability is clearly needed. The function of the Sustainable Development Program Activity (SDPC) is to look beyond what it means to be green and focus on the integration of environmental sustainability practices into manufacturing processes. The SDPC provides its customer base with a venue for networking and learning from experts in the mobility industry for the purposes of exploring current and future activities that will impact how companies address environmentally related topics. This includes activities surrounding the economic impact of governmental legislation, materials recycling and reuse, repair and serviceability, reducing carbon dioxide and other green house gases, substances of concern, energy use, waste and finally the perceptions of the government and public regarding these and other environmental concerns.

Specific focus areas include: Life Cycle Assessment, Sustainable Materials, Sustainable Manufacturing Practices, Recycling/ DFRM, and Advances in Alternative Energy and Fuels.
