Registration Day Tips

WARRENDALE, Pa., Sept. 30, 2013

Registration Day is right around the corner. It can be exciting and stressful. Check out our best tips for a successful Registration Day.

Are you are an SAE International member? If you haven’t yet registered, join now. It takes at least 24 hours for your membership to reflect as active online, so plan accordingly.

Is your SAE International membership renewed? To check, login to my.sae.org. This is also a great way to make sure you know your username and password.

Do you know where to register? If a competition is accepting registrations, you will see an orange button that says REGISTER. If a competition has sold out but there is room on the wait list, the orange button will say REGISTER FOR WAITLIST. There are two pages from which teams can register for every competition.

  • http://students.sae.org/cds: This overview includes all competitions and their status.
  • Individual Event Registration Page: Within each event, there is a registration page located on the top menu that currently includes a grey box housing registration date information. When registration opens, the grey box will be replaced with orange buttons.

Are you affiliated to the correct school? To check, login to my.sae.org. Your school should be listed under your Professional Information. Contact collegiatecompetitions@sae.org if it isn’t correct.

Do you have a strategy? It’s no secret that CDS competitions sellout quickly. Formula SAE and Baja SAE both have waitlists. Be aware of this when deciding how to allocate Registration Day resources.

Do you know the time difference? Registration open at 10:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time. Use a time zone converter to ensure you won’t miss it.

What is your credit card limit? Starting this season, teams may use up to four credit cards to pay for competitions. This will alleviate issues related to daily spending limits. In order to use those option successfully, have all credit card billing information on hand. You’ll need to know the Card Type, Card Number, Exp. Date, CSC, Name on the Card, and Billing Address.

We require online registration for all competitions, but we understand that sometimes things don’t go as planned. If you run into an issue with online registration, contact us immediately by calling 1.877.606.7323 (U.S. and Canada only) or +1.724.776.4970 (outside U.S. and Canada).
