On October 30th this news article was posted with an attachment of the rules in which the technical drawings were not attached. The attachment has been revised. Revised Rules including technical drawings will also be posted under Rules and Important Documents link.
The fuel econonomy points equation in Rule D8.22.1 was modified for 2010 to create a linear relationship of points to volume of fuel used. This was based on observations from 2009 competitions where the point value was increased such that the overall competition results became overly sensitive to the fuel economy score. The linear equation was selected to decrease sensitivity but still emphasize fuel economy in keeping with industry and societies focus on fuel economy. The first version of the equation included in the 2010 rules had a typographic error. The equation for when Vyour is less than Vmax is: FUEL ECONOMY SCORE = 100 * ((Vmax-Vyour)/(Vmax-Vmin))
Revised Rules are attached to this news update. Rules will be posted online under Rules and Important Documents link by November 2, 2009
